Terms & Conditions

Acceptance of Terms and Conditions

When booking or by attending a swimming lesson/class with Gold Fins Swimming Limited, the client accepts and is expected to abide by these terms and conditions. Failure to follow the terms and conditions may result in the client being requested to cease lessons with Gold Fins Swimming Limited. Refunds will not be eligible in these circumstances.

Gold Fins Swimming Limited will not be liable for any loss, damage or injury while parking, changing, transferring to the pool or on pool premises. Parents are responsible for and must supervise their children at all times on pool premises. Children are not Gold Fins Swimming Limited's responsibility until Gold Fins Swimming staff take them into the pool for their lesson. Any incident must be reported immediately. Clients must accept that there may be physical contact between teacher and child in a professional manner at times.

Responsibility

  • All swimmers should bring their own goggles, swimming caps and towels each lesson.

  • Swimmers should not eat for at least 1 hour prior to swimming.

  • Swimmers should come swim-ready as changing rooms are only available after lessons.

  • Parents should ensure children use the toilet before lessons, as teachers cannot pause a session to escort swimmers.

  • Long hair should be tied back. Jewellery (including earrings) must not be worn for safety reasons. No make-up or lotions should be worn as they affect water quality.

  • Appropriate swimwear must be worn at all times in the swimming pool and communal changing areas.

  • Swimmers should arrive at least 5 minutes before lessons. Classes start promptly and will not be extended for late arrivals.

  • Clients should maintain a quiet environment poolside. Disruptive or unsafe behaviour (shouting, fighting, diving, running, jumping, throwing items) may result in being asked to leave without refund.

  • Parents/guardians must not interrupt lessons unless for health and safety reasons.

  • Spectacles should not be worn in the water (goggles including prescription lenses may be used at the wearer’s own risk).

  • Food and alcoholic drinks are not permitted poolside. Outdoor footwear and buggies are strictly prohibited at poolside.

  • Parents should remain onsite while their child is swimming.

  • All property is left at the owner’s risk.

Lesson Schedule

  • Gold Fins Swimming runs all year round, with 2-week breaks at the end of August and 2-week breaks at the end of December.

  • This provides 48 weeks of lessons per year.

Lesson Prices & Bookings

  • Class/course dates are published on our website.

  • Bookings are confirmed once payment has been received (or once a Direct Debit mandate is successfully set up and the first payment collected).

  • Existing clients are given priority to rebook before spaces are released. Failure to pay by the communicated deadline will result in the space being released.

  • Clients may join part-way through a month and will be charged on a pro-rata basis.

  • Gold Fins Swimming Limited reserves the right not to accept a booking without obligation to provide a reason.

Direct Debit Payments & Failed Payments

  • Lesson fees are collected monthly in advance by Direct Debit.

  • Payments are taken on the 20th of each month (or the next working day if this falls on a weekend or bank holiday).

  • A swimmer’s space is only secured once the first Direct Debit payment has been collected.

Failed or Cancelled Payments

  • A £5 administration charge will be applied for each failed GoCardless payment (e.g. insufficient funds).

  • A £10 administration charge will be applied if a Direct Debit mandate is cancelled without notice.

  • If payment is not received within 5 working days, lessons may be suspended and the space released.

Cancelling Lessons

  • To cancel ongoing lessons, 4 weeks’ written notice is required, by emailing us at info@goldfins.co.uk.

  • Direct Debit payments will continue to be collected during this notice period.

Refunds, Cancellations & Make-Up Lessons

  • No refunds will be given once payment has been collected, including where lessons are missed due to holidays, sickness, or other personal circumstances.

  • Lesson fees are non-transferable and cannot be credited to future months outside of the make-up policy.

  • This no refund policy also applies in circumstances beyond the control of Gold Fins Swimming Limited, such as government restrictions, pool closures due to adverse weather, technical failures, or health & safety incidents.

  • Where Gold Fins Swimming cancels a lesson, we will offer either a make-up session (subject to availability) or a credit against your account. No cash refunds will be provided.

  • Swimmers are entitled to up to 4 make-up sessions per swim year (January–December), subject to availability.

  • Parents/guardians must notify Gold Fins Swimming at least 24 hours before the lesson time if a lesson cannot be attended, by emailing us at info@goldfins.co.uk.

  • If you do not attend an arranged make-up lesson, it will be forfeited and cannot be rearranged.

  • Unused make-up lessons expire at the end of each swim year (January–December) and cannot be carried forward.

  • All outstanding make-up lessons will be forfeited when a swimmer leaves Gold Fins Swimming. Should they re-join, previous make-up lessons will not be reinstated.

  • To stop lessons, you must provide a minimum of 4 weeks’ written notice.

Lesson Changes

  • If an instructor is absent, Gold Fins Swimming Limited may provide a replacement instructor without notice.

  • Lessons may be cancelled at short notice due to sickness incidents in the pool or other operational reasons. Clients will be notified via SMS/email where possible.

  • Where Gold Fins Swimming cancels a lesson, a make-up session or credit will be offered. No refunds will be given.

Registration Fee

  • A £10 registration fee applies for all new swimmers, and for any swimmer re-joining after previously leaving.

Medical Conditions & Illness

  • All medical and behavioural conditions must be disclosed before attending. Gold Fins Swimming Limited reserves the right to refuse participation if deemed unsafe.

  • Children must not attend lessons if unwell or suffering from infectious conditions. For sickness/diarrhoea, swimmers must be symptom-free for at least 48 hours before returning.
