Gold Fins Academy
School Swimming
We are delighted to introduce Gold Fins Academy, an initiative aimed at promoting water safety and swimming education for all. Our objective is to ensure that every student can swim and is knowledgeable about water safety. We intend to achieve this by bringing swimming pools to primary schools and facilitating a programme that meets the national curriculum criterias.

Did you know?
Swimming is the only sport included within the national curriculum physical education programme of study. All primary schools must provide swimming and water safety lessons in either Key Stage 1 or 2.

Each pupil is required to be able to do the following:
-
Perform safe self-rescue in different water based situations
-
Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
-
Use a range of strokes effectively, for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke.
The Struggle
-
Budget: Primary schools must ensure that their limited budget covers the cost of swimming lessons. Lessons at the local pools can be expensive due to increased pool maintenance costs
-
Quality: Many primary schools struggle to meet their national curriculum criteria, and Sport England reports that one in four children is unable to swim 25m when leaving school. By 2026, 1.2 million children will leave school without this vital skill.
-
Logistics: Primary schools face restrictions regarding leisure centre availability. Moreover, transportation costs have quadrupled in recent years, creating an additional burden on school budgets.
How it works?
Say goodbye to the hassle of finding swimming facilities for your school! Our pop-up pools are the perfect solution to this problem. We'll bring the pool right to your doorstep, saving you loads of time and money on travel and classroom disruptions.
Our classes are entirely customizable, so each child will feel like they're receiving the required attention. With smaller class sizes, students can enjoy more fun in the water while achieving better results.

Key Facts:
-
We provide a pop up pool, which is 32ft x 16ft, filtered, heated at 27-32 degrees and covered with a secure marquee.
-
A Qualified and DBS checked Swimming Teacher, assessed and trained by Gold Fins Swim School will deliver the swimming lessons daily from 9am - 3pm.
-
Lessons will be conducted in small groups with a maximum of 10 Children, depending on their abilities.
-
This initiative allows a higher swimming lessons frequency to the children which is key to achieving the national curriculum criteria.
